  • Annual with showy purple flowers. Foliage is aromic when crushed. Can be eaten with taste similar to cultivated sweet basil or lime basil. 
  • Listed as endangered by the state of Florida.  
  • Used in wildflower gardens and natural landscapes. Reseeds.
  • 3-4 ft tall by 3-4 ft wide.
  • Suitable to grow in: 10A, 10B, 11B
  • Blooms all year in southern Florida. 
  • Best planted in full sun, part shade.
  • Needs moist well drained soil.  
  • Many birds eat the fruit.
  • Larval host for spring azure butterflies and clearwing moths.
